First time using Claude Code

First time using Claude Code. I went in skeptical and came out a convert.

I’ve been on medical leave lately, which gave me the headspace to finally get back to building. Put together a small Alexa skill for waking up my desktop remotely. Laptop on my chest, lying down. Nothing that changes the world.

What did change: my take on agentic coding. Tight scope, complex integrations handled cleanly, good back-and-forth when it counted. It just worked.

As an engineering manager, I should build more often. Not to stay hands-on in the weeds, but to keep the muscle memory, stay curious, and remember what my teams actually live with day to day.
